St. Marys
St. Mary's Catholic School is located in downtown Greenville. I have served on the school board and I have had 3 children pass through the school. I will be honest with you, it can be very difficult to get in because of the demand and the limited spaces. Academics are excellent and you will see a well above average on the Iowa Test of Basic skills.
There have been many changes at the school over the years especially with the new pastor. Funding for the school has increased dramatically (and so have tuitions). The school is now under the direction of the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia of Nashville, Tennessee. You will get plenty of religion here and a disciplined schedule. Over 50% of the faculty hold masters degrees. Weekly mass is required. Access to all the newest technology has really increased (again so have tuitions). Middle school students get a PDA.
A full time librarian is available and other activities include Student Council, Safety Patrol, Yearbook, School Literacy Magazine, School Newspaper, Chorus, and Special Service projects.
The school draws it's charm from it's old buildings dating back to the 1930's. Of course being almost in the middle of Greenville makes it even more attractive. The school continued to grow with the junior high building then the new gym. The gym was St. Mary's School first major and really expensive expansion and really is quite nice. It was named after Monsignor Charles J. Baum, a longtime Greenville resident of Greenville South Carolina. I want to take a minute to talk about this Priest. He was not only loved and respected by long time St. Mary's parishioners but by many Greenville pastors and townspeople.
Later the Jamile J. Francis Athletic Field opened. The Francis are well known Greenville residents and contributed greatly to St. Mary's Church and school. If you need a good attorney check with Skip Francis.

Mercy Hall consists of:
Fine Arts Center, Media Center, Music/Art Room, Computer Lab, Health Room and Administrative offices.
The Middle School (Pazdan Hall) contains cafeterias, science lab and classrooms.
About a year ago the middle school received a $2.2 million renovation.
It's a nice place in a great location.
